Tuvon glances over his shoulder at her, grins sharply, then with a whoop, leaps into the elevator shaft! With the agility of a monkey in a tree, he swings and bounds from cable, wall, to cable, to wall, to bar, carrying her with the same ease he carries his own backpack normally. This descent is swift, only controlling gravity's pull downward, not slowing it much--in fact, he uses that momentum to swing around with little effort on his own part.

Within seconds, they're down on the main floor of this apartment building, landing with a solid "thump" of his feet, and he knuckles a few steps forward to lose the last of the momentum. With a triumphant grin, Tuvon glances over his shoulder at Raena.

Rae climbs down, grinning, eyes bright with excitement . That was fun! She continues following where he leads without hesitation, no longer questioning even for a moment whether or not he was one she could trust.

Tuvon leads the way out onto a mound of rubble, then uses his pole to vault up to the top. There, he plants his pole firmly on the very top, and scampers up it to survey the area, hanging on the top as he balances the pole and self expertly against gravity.

Ruins... some wild dogs... Perhaps habitation in the far distance... Aha! A bookstore, at the bottom of that taller building!

Swinging down, Tuvon drops on all fours again, and gestures in the right direction to Raena, before leading the way. He wonders idly why it is easier to try communicating with a wolf... but then, perhaps it is because he doesn't care much for the humans of his own past?

The store's contents are all tossed around, with dust covering the floor. Not many have raided the place, as all it has are books and magazines and newspapers and nothing else. Yet as they enter, Tuvon sniffs the air cautiously, pole in hand, then nods, content that they are alone...

Looking about, his head tilted to one side, the mutant considers their options and the signs indicating different sections before he bounds down various aisles quickly, snatching up several volumes. These, he turns and offers to Raena.

A book on sign-language and the various signs, for beginners.

A couple good mysteries, one being a classic Sherlock Holmes, and another more modern one.

A book on basic psychology, "For Dummies".

The latter he indicates that he'd like to read it, too. After all, it'd be nice to finally put a name to some of the things he's observed about his captors.

Raena took the books as he handed them to her, seeming most interested in the sign language book until he handed her the last one. She looked at the title then, feigning insult, quirked a brow and drew her finger under the words "for dummies", tapping her foot, though the amusement in her eyes was very evident.

Tuvon winks at Raena mischievously. Then the mutant proceeds to make the most absurd face he possibly can, looking like a dazed and ditsy fool of a monkey, rolling his eyes--and spinning a finger by his head to indicate craziness or idiocy.

Sobering again, Tuvon hoots a laugh, shaking his head and shrugging.

It's actually nice to have someone to laugh with...

The mutant can only hope she learns some of the sign-language from the book, to make this more fun.

Raena grins broadly, eyes twinkling, then stuffs the books into her pack - except the sign language book. That one, she begins studying in earnest, determined to learn as much as she can as quickly as she can. After awhile, she looks up at Tuvon curiously, and signs, tentatively, *How did you come here?*

Tuvon made a bit of a face, a grimace that was almost painful. *Do not remember,* he signed to her slowly, to let her look up his words. *Remember just labs... Bad place. Escaped.*

But he flashed her his teeth in a smile, approving her efforts. She was picking sign-language up very quickly, it seemed. That was good. A companion to talk to would be nice.

*You?* he asked, curious.

*Not sure.* Raena frowned. *My home ...* she stopped. What had happened to her home? She wasn't sure. *My brothers gone,* she said at last. *Missing. * She forced down the sense of panic that accompanied that thought, concluding *Must find.*

*So we find,* he signed back, grinning, then gave her a thumb's up.

He didn't mind having a purpose to his wandering. It was better than simply trying to flee the base and its inhabitants. It gave him a purpose, as well.

*Ideas where?*

Hopefully she had some idea where to look, or what kind of places her bothers might turn to or frequent. After all, for him there were pet-stores and book stores... but who knew with humans? Maybe anywhere was good.

*What do brothers like, do?*

If Tuvon knew more about what her brothers liked and disliked, and what their skills were, maybe even what they looked like, he could help more. She seemed to know less about this outside world than he, but then... Tuvon did his research before escaping.

Raena smiled when Tuvon said he'd help, his offer confirming he was a friend and firmly cementing her loyalty to him.

*Jason. Older brother. Go UCLA. Study write. Ian. Younger brother. He follow. World die. They not come back.*

She frowns as she recounts this to Tuvon.

Tuvon nodded, setting her information to memory. *Jason. Ian. LA. Very far on foot.*

Tapping his chin with a finger, he thought hard. Vehicles were beyond his skills. They may have to hitch a ride somehow... with someone. Maybe a train...?

*Will find way,* he decided, thinking trains the best option, for now. *Labs look for me. Far is good.*

After a moment, the mutant asked, *Where home?* They could check on it on the way.

*Farm... land... home. Waukesha, Wisconsin,* Rae answered, spelling it out carefully on nimble fingers. She had no real idea where she was now, or how far she'd come from where she started. She wasn't sure how much farther to Los Angeles. She only knew she had to keep moving.

Tuvon considered that, and what he knew of the area. This was Boston, he knew that much. But they would have to head west to check on her home, then southwest for LA. Just as well, in case her brothers went home in search of her.

*Did you leave note for them?* he asked, even as he briefly scanned the shelves once more. They would need maps--and travel guides. The latter would mention monuments for orienting themselves, and where stores and shopping areas were so they could resupply at such. *Home closer--better we check, if they came back. Then find LA.*

(OOC--Maybe we should have them meet the party in LA first, I guess...?)

(Nah... ...let's make a mess of 'em and get'em to Kait... the Wolfe brothers'll turn up there in search of Raena, and just adopt a new brother in the process.)

*Can not go home. Bad place now.* She frowns. *Small boy tell me people here. Family here. Maybe mine same?*
